Mediation

What is Mediation?

Mediation helps people in conflict resolve specific issues and see things differently so they can relate to each other in a more constructive way in future.

Having a third person, who is independent of everyone involved with the situation, oversee the conversation, allows more focus and calm. The Mediator helps individuals identify what is important and what may be getting in the way of helpful interactions.

It is an informal approach which follows a flexible framework. Each stage has a purpose which creates a solid foundation for open conversation.

We offer a range of Mediation packages based on applied knowledge and individual client need. Factors which may impact are the length and complexity of the dispute, the number of people involved and whether any formal processes have taken place.

We will assess the suitability of Mediation for your situation and recommend options based on the information you are able to provide and preferences.

Workplace Mediation

Embedding ways to resolve conflict contributes to a culture of continuous feedback and improvement. Workplace Mediation seeks to support those involved in conflict to work together to find lasting solutions and reduce the time, stress and resources associated with formal processes.

Disagreement and tension are inevitable within any organisation and is present at all levels at some stage, but left unaddressed it may lead to breakdown in relationships.

Neighbourhood Mediation

If left unresolved, neighbourhood disputes may lead to anti-social behaviour and ongoing distress for those involved, as well as housing providers and landlords. Early intervention via Neighbourhood Mediation can help neighbours communicate effectively and reach a lasting shared agreement.

Conflict may be between two or more neighbours as well as  people in the wider area, which may be referred to as Community Mediation.

Family Relationships Mediation

Family conflicts are common disagreements that may come about due to differences in opinion, values or personalities. Resolving family conflicts through Family Relationships Mediation can lead to stronger relationships and improved communication.

Please note – We do not provide Family Mediation for separation and divorce. This is a separate area of Mediation and has a different focus and purpose. Please see the Family Mediation Council Website for more information or to find a registered Mediator who may help you with this.

Student Mediation

Student conflicts in universities and colleges may include issues within the areas of academic support, group work and student accommodation. Effective conflict management strategies are essential in maintaining a supportive environment.

Group / Team Mediation Or Facilitated Conversations

In any team or group setting conflict or tension is bound to arise and may lead to frustration, inefficiency, confusion, delays and a general lack of communication. However, it does not need to be detrimental and in fact can be reframed as an opportunity for growth, innovation and improved performance.

In House Support

We offer coaching support for new Mediators who are either joining their in-house Mediation Team or setting up their own Mediation Service within their organisation. This can be one to one or a group setting.

It may be that the training provider you did your qualification with offers ongoing support, so do check in with them first. We are available for a one-off consultation or regular coaching sessions. Let us know your needs and we can discuss what will work best for you.

We can help with;

  • Setting up an in-house Mediation service
  • Reviewing efficiency and progress of an existing service
  • Refresher Training and focussed CPD Sessions
  • Pre Mediation preparation
  • Post Mediation debrief
  • Co-Mediation – if you would like support and feedback as a newly qualified Mediator.
